Our portfolio has always included publishing projects and book design. We have a library shelf full of illustrated books designed for some of the most respected publishers in town. These include Thames and Hudson, V&A, Conran and Head of Zeus. Broadbase have designed books on interiors, fashion, food, crafts, flowers, architecture and even politics.

We love the task of turning an author’s collection of words and images into a book. It’s always a magical experience when we finally receive the printed book in our hands. One of our biggest projects to date, at a whopping 432 pages, is the definitive Vintage Fashion Complete by Nicky Albrechtsen for Thames and Hudson. As well as the book design and layout, dozens of Avril’s illustrated silhouettes lie behind its printed silk fabric cover.

Another favourite is The New Artisans for Thames and Hudson. This book profiles the work of over seventy creatives who use craft to hand make objects in the digital age.

In 2020, in the depths of lockdown, Avril helped with the design and publishing of the Hackney Society’s Women from Hackney’s History. The book was entirely researched and produced by volunteers to honour over 100 women whose lives were woven into this fascinating London Borough.
